Mind Magic Studios featured on the news - a big thank you to ITV Anglia
Steve Braund, Mind Magic Studios
I was thrilled to be featured on the regional news and ITVX recently.
Russell Hookey from ITV News Anglia came to visit Mind Magic Studios to film me sculpting, the masks on the shelves, and to ask about how I got here. Last week the piece went out, and contains some really lovely footage of the masks.
The short version of the story, for anyone new here: years ago I was made redundant from a completely different career. I taught myself to sculpt in whatever hours I could find, trained under some brilliant, industry professionals along the way, and slowly built that into Mind Magic Studios, making hyper-realistic silicone, resin and polyurethane masks, armour, costume pieces, prosthetics and props for film, TV, independent productions, performers and collectors.
It's not the sort of story that feels dramatic while you're living it. It's mostly just showing up at the bench and very hard graft. But it was good of Anglia to tell it properly rather than just pointing a camera at a shelf of masks.
I'd like to extend a huge thank you to Russell and the whole ITV News Anglia team for coming out, for the interview, and for backing an independent Essex sculptor's story. And thank you to everyone who's ordered a mask, sent a message, or shared the piece since it aired - it all really helps!
My work can next be seen on the big screen when the giant, frankly terrifying, baby mask I made for Manbaby movie airs at Folkestone Film Festival on 18 September 2026. The screening will be followed by an in-person Q&A with writer/director Philip Hardy, producer Syd Heather and lead actor Divian Ladwa (Lion, Detectorists, Ant Man and the Wasp).
After that, Amazon Prime's Rings of Power Season 3 airs on 11 November 2026. My recent blog article shares some photos of the armour and helmets I sculpted for this incredible fantasy production.
